Rajat Roy Chaudhury
Rajat has over 30 years of experience in consultancy and research in the areas of coastal, environmental and water resources engineering. He has participated in over 100 projects related to environmental impact and risk assessments, coastal sedimentation, urban and watershed runoff, water quality modeling and intake / outfall studies.
Rajat studied at the University of Rhode Island, USA where he got an opportunity to work on wide range of environmental projects. Later, during his professional stint spanning more than 15 years with National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai (India), he established environmental engineering activities before managing the coastal and environmental group of the institute. At NIOT, he led and executed several consultancy projects on coastal infrastructure development which included river regulatory measures in the Hugli estuary for Kolkata Port Trust, layout for the expansion of the Gujarat Pipavav Port, and thermal plant intake / outfall diffusers.
Rajat was a member of Expert Appraisal Committee, Industry – II, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. Of India for Environmental Clearance under the EIA notification.
